Who Are We?

We’re people like YOU! We call Merced home. We have friends and family here. We’re eager to make new friends too. We have questions. We wonder about life and faith. We hope our lives will really count for something and make a lasting difference. We are excited about God, excited about our life together, and excited about being part of the greatest thing happening in the whole world, namely, the Kingdom of God.

We’re only one part of that worldwide movement of people seeking to know, love, and serve Jesus! But, we hope that our small part can make a big difference for good here in Merced and to the far corners of the globe.

Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians

CPC is part of a larger group of Christians known as the Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians – it’s our tirbe! ECO’s mission is “to build flourishing churches that make disciples of Jesus Christ.” ECO churches are unique in that they are led not only by pastors and ministry lead staff, but by an elected body of Elders who represent the congregation and seek to lead it according to their best sense of what God’s will is for and through the church. We sometimes call them The Session (it’s an old Scottish term that refers to the fact that when the Elders are meeting they’re in “session.” It’s not a perfect system, but it works well to make sure that no one person calls all the shots and the responsibility of leadership is shared. If you want to find out more about what ECO values be sure and check out their Who We Are page.
