David has been our Lead Pastor since he and his wife, Nancy, moved to Merced from Seattle in December 2015. He grew up on the beach in Jacksonville, FL, but has lived all over the United States since leaving home for college. Nancy and David met when they were both college students at Wheaton College. They have four wonderful adult children Charlie, Ben, Jeremy and Anna and one incredible daughter-in-law, Jenny, who is married to Ben. Nancy is originally from Montana and is a professionally trained singer and voice instructor as well as an incredible cook who also loves to get her hands dirty working in colorful flower beds. David enjoys fly fishing, bird hunting, woodworking, playing guitar, and most of all, seeing people who are far away from God find their heart’s true home by trusting their lives into God’s capable hands.
Dave was called into the ministry at 17 years old. He has faithfully served CPC since 1991 focusing on Adult and Senior Ministries as well as Mission and the work of the Deacons. He is passionate about coming alongside others in their faith journey, teaching, missions, sharing God’s word and building Christian community. Dave holds a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA and a Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ.
He has been married for 28 years and has been blessed with two amazing children.
My name is Travis Lodes, I became a Christian the summer after my junior year of high school at Mount Hermon’s Ponderosa Lodge. I worked as a student leader my senior year of high school, interned for the first time the summer after freshman year of college. This is where i learned to love student ministries, and really felt God call me into it . I have served all over, from here in the Bay Area, to the deserts of Arizona, to the mountainous mile high city in Colorado, and all the way back to Napa, and now Merced. I enjoy all types of music, board games, coffee, sports. I am a truly loyal fan, loving and following the Carolina Panthers since 3rd grade, and growing up loving the Dodgers and Lakers, the teams my dad grew up loving. I studied Christian Education Ministries at BIOLA University, and am so looking forward to my time here in Merced.
Paul has served on church staff in Family & Children’s Ministries and in Youth Ministries. He has served churches in California, Washington and Oregon. He has a passion to disciple children and their parents. He feels that helping parents recognize their role as the primary faith builders of their children will help the next generation of children become lifelong followers of Jesus.
Paul and his wife Gina met at a Bible College in Seattle, WA. They both have degrees in Biblical Studies. They have 3 grown daughters; two of which are married and one that is in college. They also have 2 beautiful grandchildren. One of their greatest joys is watching their children walk in relationship with Jesus. They all make their homes in Washington state. Paul’s favorite things to do is hang out with Gina, explore God’s earth, and hiking. One of his favorite places to hike is the Sierra Mountains and Yosemite, so he is excited that God has brought him to CPC in Merced, “the Gateway to Yosemite”. He loves playing guitar, leading people of various ages in worship, digging into the Bible, and Boogie Boarding, as he lived in Santa Cruz CA for 10 years.
Matt is the husband of his school sweetheart, Maya, and father to 4 incredibly fun kids; Isaiah (12), Joshua (10), Carina (7), and Sophia (3). He graduated from Fresno State with a degree in Literature, and immediately went to work at Le Grand High School teaching English and coaching baseball. From there he felt the call into ministry, and has done youth ministry and worship ministry in some capacity ever since then. He is an avid baseball fan (GO DODGERS!) and is the co-owner of CrossFit Merced. Matt enjoys golfing, drinking good coffee, and great music. He was born and raised here in Merced and wants the entire city to know how abundant a life in Jesus Christ can be.

Mark is serving as our Junior High Ministry Intern. He was introduced to church through Junior High Fellowship here at CPC. He immediately had a great connection with the leaders at fellowship and stayed involved all throughout junior high and high school, attending all retreats, mission trips and serving as a leader for JHF. He hopes to create a fun, welcoming environment for the junior high students, where they can feel comfortable attending a church and learning about the love of Jesus Christ, even if they never have before. Outside of the Junior High ministry, Mark is a student at Merced College, lover of music, as well as an avid sports fan. If you ever want to have a conversation with him, just ask him about the game; he will have plenty to tell you.
