I have been married to my wife, Gayle, for 46 years and we have three children together: Joshua, Joy, and Bethany, which now have families of their own. Plus, I am Papa to three grandchildren! I received my Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Liberal Studies from CSU Stanislaus, and a Masters of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary, plus have a big background of experience in camping ministry prior to joining CPC.
I love the water, sailing, tinkering with a variety of projects, working in the yard, and antiques. If I’m not at church in my office, you can probably find me in the kitchen: I LOVE to cook!

John has been at Merced High, his alma mater, for over ten years. But the question is, what does he do in his free time? The answer: probably way too much — that is, when he’s not teaching, preparing lessons, or grading papers! You might also see him playing guitar, being a father to two, backpacking, surfing, kayaking, bass fishing, visiting family in Kansas City, planting hot peppers, reading great literature.
John is the Interim Modern Worship Director at the 9:30 service. If you are interested in singing, play an instrument or would like to help with AV, please email John.
Kristen has served as CPC’s Manager since March 2017. Kristen was born and raised in Merced on her family ranch; she grew up in the church and attended CPC for jr. high and high school fellowship. When she was finished with schooling she found herself at CPC, right where God wanted her. In her free time, Kristen enjoys road trips, baseball games (Go Cardinals!), clay shooting and finding good places to eat and drink.
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will wlk and not faint.
