An Imperfect Offering. . .This past Sunday afternoon, I nearly missed the opportunity to give away something that I viewed as flawed and of little value. As it turns out, that gift was more precious than I was able to comprehend. Immediately upon being asked to sing the soprano solos for a sing-a-long Messiah performance at my church, I said, “Of course! I’ve sung those lots of times.” Piece of cake, right? A few days later, I did the calculations and realized it had been a surprising 20 years since I had sung some of those ‘pieces of cake’. Maybe I should graciously bow out. “No, I will just practice and be fine”, I thought.
