Why We Give

We give because we have received so much! We believe that giving of our time, our talent and our treasure is a privilege and an honor. The reality is God has been so generous in demonstrating His love for us time and again.

God owns everything and He provides for us according to His will and plan. We encourage those who attend CPC to live lives that are abundantly generous. Through giving regularly, and joyfully we remind ourselves and demonstrate to others the truth of the gospel of Christ – that the death and resurrection of Jesus is the most generous gift ever given. When we give as Christ gave, we recognize the Lord as supreme in our lives, we actively rely on Him to provide for our needs and we can begin to serve Him by unselfishly meeting the needs of others.

“God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

2 Corinthians 9:8

God’s Word has a great deal to say about giving and wisely managing all of the resources He has given to us. Some scholars have calculated that there are well over 2,300 verses that deal with giving, money and the use of possessions in the Bible. With all that wealth of instruction, where should we start? What are the foundational truths the Lord wants us to understand and apply to our lives? Here are some good places to begin:
God owns everything and call us to manage His resources wisely.
Psalm 24:1; Romans 11:36; Haggai 2:8; Deuteronomy 8:18; Matthew 25:21

God is generous and calls us to be generous.
Romans 8:32; John 3:16, 1st John 3:16-19: Luke 6:38

Our heart attitude about money and wealth is crucial.
Matthew 6:1-4; 19-24; Proverbs 30:8-9; 1st Timothy 6:9-10

We are called to live and give in the light of eternity.
Philippians 3:20; Hebrews 11:25; 1st Timothy 6:17-19; Matthew 19:16-29

God urges us to excel in the grace of giving.
2nd Corinthians 8:7; Mark 12:43-44

There is a great deal more that the Lord wants us to understand about giving and being wise stewards of all that He has entrusted to our care. Click this link to locate and read several key sections of Scripture that will helpful to you as you seek to grow in the “grace of giving”.

When someone connects their bank account to their donor profile in Planning Center Giving, all we know is that a valid payment method, held at Stripe, exists for that donor. Not a single card or bank account number is stored in our database.

Stripe itself is a certified “PCI Service Provider Level 1” payment processor. This is the most stringent level of certification available.

If you give through our site, or by mobile, once you log in, you’ll be able to manage recurring donations, view your giving history, and administer your payment methods (including ACH bank transfer). You can also email the office for a personal statement, [email protected].

Yes, when you give, simply designate which of the following funds you’d like to give: General, Facilities & Maintenance, Deacons, & Memorial. Our primary financial needs are encompassed in the General Fund – which covers our annual budget.

Yes. Every time you give online or by mobile, you’ll receive an email receipt showing when you gave, how much, and where the donation was designated.

Followers of Christ are challenged to give until it hurts. Interestingly, the sacrifice eventually turns to joy. God values our heart, and we show Him our true allegiance by the giving of those things which are often too important in our lives. As we see how Jesus compared the poor widow’s small but “all-in” contribution being of greater value to the Lord than the larger sum comfortably given out of the rich man’s excess.
